Shrewsbury's Dave Edwards has ankle surgery
Shrewsbury midfielder Dave Edwards has undergone surgery on an ankle ligament problem, the club have revealed.
Edwards hasn't featured since March 30 in the 2-0 win at Southend, one of only six appearances since he returned to the club in January.
The 33-year-old suffered the injury in training and his chances of appearing again this season would appear to be slim.
Shrewsbury said today: "Dave Edwards had ankle ligament surgery yesterday.
"The operation was successful. We would like to wish Dave a speedy recovery."
Boss Sam Ricketts said last week: "It's a real shame, he was training on a more regular basis, getting into shape.
"He might be back before (the end of the season) - if he is then great. If not it's ready for other players to step into the fold."
