Dave Edwards: Shrewsbury's good play means nothing if they can’t score

The alarming statistic for Shrewsbury coming away from the Charlton game is that they have now gone a full calendar month without finding the back of the net.

Matt Taylor will feel harshly done by again, a bit like the Leyton Orient game where they had some clear-cut chances and should have got something from that game.

They dominated that one and the first half against Charlton was a similar story.

It’s a positive that Matt Taylor is having longer with his team and you can see the progression from an attacking point of view, in terms of creating more chances.

But, it all means nothing when you can’t put the ball in the back of the net.

That’s the one thing that needs addressing. It’s hard to teach on the training ground, it comes down to a moment and whether the player is calm enough to put the ball away in an instinctive fashion.
