Dooley has been in post at Shrews for roughly three weeks after filling the gap left by Brian Caldwell, who departed earlier this year after a long stint in Shropshire.

The new chief executive has already won favour with some fans after pledging to improve communication with the club’s supporters – something that Shrewsbury have not always got right in recent times.

Since his appointment, Town have had mixed results, but Dooley and his family are now fully-fledged Salop supporters, he says that when you start working for a club, it becomes a ‘part of you’.

“My dad has already come to every game since I got the job,” he said.

“He has a Shrewsbury hat and a Shrewsbury shirt, and he sat in the away end at Barnsley and at Wigan.

“I think that becomes part of you, and my other half is the same.

“Every time I leave work on a Friday to go back up north, it costs me £200 in the club shop for the different shirts I am buying for people.
