Salop conceded early in both halves as they lost a crucial League One clash against relegation rivals Burton Albion to find themselves at the foot of the table.

Goals from Tomas Kalinauskas and Danilo Orsi guided Burton to their first win in league action since April as they leapfrogged Town.

And Parrish, who is in charge in the interim after former head coach Paul Hurst was sacked last week, was frustrated with how easily they allowed the Brewers to score.  "It's a major disappointment in a way," Parrish said.

"I have taken the team, I've led the team today."

And deep down, I thought we did OK, but we can't concede the goals that we have been doing.

"One goal early in the first half, one goal early in the second half, and it is criminal.

"I've said to them, I'm disappointed with the goals, the manner we conceded. Our play, I thought at times we played some good stuff, I thought we had bright moments, not many, but a few chances.

"There was Leo's header, first half, we go in half-time at 1-1 it might be different.

"But pleased with how they responded this week and how it's gone, and how I planned it, and how I organised it, and everything. But deep down, we've lost the game 2-0, and the fans are going home disappointed.

"The staff, the players, we are all disappointed, but we move on, dust ourselves down, regroup, and we go again on Monday morning."

Shrewsbury were well-supported in Staffordshire as more than 700 supporters made the trip to the Pirelli Stadium.

And Parrish said he was disappointed for them after the performance and result Town produced.

"I'm a fan as well," Parrish continued. "You want to get bums off seats, you want to get behind the goal bouncing, and I'm disappointed.

"I can't apologise if you like, it was my team today, and again, I'm disappointed how we conceded goals.

"I wanted to go back with one point, I'd have been happy, with three points, I'd have been ecstatic.

"As I say, I am just disappointed, but thank you again to all the fans who have travelled and stood behind us and supported the lads at the end.

"I am sure they're frustrated, as they're entitled to be, they paid their money, and they're entitled to do that, but again, they ain't stupid."It's down to the players and the staff, we've got to regroup and pull again."

Parrish also spoke about Town's search for a new head coach.

"Until further notice, I just keep planning," he said.  "Day off tomorrow and we are in on Monday. We look to plan for Tuesday, so nothing's changed.

"If I hear. I'm sure Micky and the chairman will be in discussions, no doubt, and I'll be told in the near future."
