The Atletico Madrid loanee starred for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team against Millwall as they returned to third in the table after their sixth win of the season in all competitions.

Jota’s brilliant early goal settled the contest in a 1-0 win against the Lions – one of the best goals he’s scored.

And the 20-year-old said: “I enjoyed the performance and I enjoyed the goal. I didn’t have many choices to pass the ball and I believe in myself.

“It is one of my best goals but not the best. I got one a couple of years ago against Benfica which was further out.

“The season has gone well so far but we can improve. We are aware of that and it’s what we are trying to do.

“We need to score more goals and kill the games, we need to not suffer like we suffered in this game.

“In the last minute it nearly cost us. That is what we need to improve.

“It is an exciting team. The fans like the way we play. It is different to what they are used to. It is more of a possession game. We like that they like it. It is the coach’s idea and it is good the fans like the style of the game because that is how we are going to play.”

The game was Wolves’ first of a run of seven in three weeks.

Jota, who said it was too early to be thinking about whether he would join Wolves permanently, believes they’re well equipped to cope with that and a long winter ahead.

“We are ready for that and the other conditions,” he added.

“The football here is different to what I’m used to but it’s not a problem because we are adaptable players.

“In Portugal it is much more of a tactical game and here it is a lot more physical and it’s a big difference. I get tackled a lot more. That is the way the game is and I have to get used to it.

“It was vital to win against Millwall after losing the last time here (against Cardiff) and we needed to improve on that.”
