Nuno wants more from Wolves after nervy Preston win

Wolves were 3-0 up after 63 minutes after two goals from the in-form Leo Bonatini added to Ivan Cavaleiro's opener.

But Preston rallied and pulled two back through a Jordan Hugill header and a Conor Coady own goal, leading to a nervy finale.

Nuno said: "I'm pleased with three points, it's important.

"What can't make us totally pleased is the performance. Today was not the best performance we've had.

"The first half the game there was too much stopping and holding.

"Preston are a good side, they're organised and it was all about controlling our game. We have to find new solutions for it because it's going to happen.

"In the second half we were much better, looking for goals. We achieved three goals at home but we must manage better the final minutes and not concede these situations.

"The mistakes can cost you."

Referee Stephen Martin earned the wrath of both managers after a series of puzzling decisions.

There were two mini brawls in the second half and Preston's Alan Browne was sent off for two bookings as Martin lost control of the game.

Nuno was irate throughout the match but kept criticism of the referee to a minimum, saying only that there was too much 'holding' from Preston's players.

"It's a difficult job," he said. "It's unfair for me to be judging all the situations but what I saw was too much holding of our players.

"It must stop and he must punish these moments. Holding is not part of football.

"We stood up (to the physical challenge) but it's not about that, it's about the law.

"I'm not complaining about the gameplan of our opponents – it's my job to find solutions. But there's no solution to holding.

"Sometimes the situations are so clear – all the stadium sees it."

Bonatini's double salvo took his tally for the season to seven. He's also scored three in his past four matches

Nuno added: "It's good but it's not about who starts. When you're on the pitch you have to take that moment for the team – Leo did this today.

"It's not only today that he's been working very hard. It's an image we want, the squad and the options we have.

"We're going to need everybody because it's a long season and on Tuesday (away at Manchester City) we have a big challenge again."
