Nuno: "Wolves haven't done anything yet"

With a third of the season gone Nuno’s team are two points clear of Sheffield United going into this week’s international break.

They comfortably beat Fulham 2-0 on Friday, their fifth victory from six matches.

Nuno believes a strong team spirit and keeping their feet on the ground will be important as he looks to engineer a long stay at the top.

“The challenge is to keep going and realise we didn’t achieve anything and the table in November doesn’t mean anything at all,” he said.

“So keep the focus and continue playing good football in front of Molineux, our crowd, I think they enjoyed the game on Friday. We have to keep pushing and work hard.

“I think the players are enjoying playing with each other and the way they play and work together and trust each other.

“This is the strong thing about this squad – they enjoy being together in every moment of the day, working, preparing then going into competition.”

The Fulham victory ended a busy week after trips to QPR and Norwich made it three games in seven days.

Nuno praised his players for handling the tough schedule – and closed the book on last week’s links with the vacant Everton manager’s job.

“Usually we have three days between games – players are used to this kind of cycle,” he said.

“When you have one day less to recover it’s very hard and you can feel and see that our players have this willing to go but sometimes it’s hard.

“The answer from the players was very good and fortunately no injuries.

“I think I was very clear about this (Everton) issue – this is over.

“Maybe some people didn’t realise but I was very clear. The commitment that we all have on Wolves is something that makes us really proud.

“Nothing can distract us.”
