Wolves have completed the signing of 20-year-old Valencia forward Rafa Mir.

The club announced the transfer tonight, with the youngster signing a four-and-a-half year deal in a transfer understood to be worth around £1.5 million.

Wolves' first signing of the January transfer window will wear the number nine shirt for the rest of the season.

The 6ft 2in Spaniard said he was looking forward to reuniting with Nuno Espirito Santo, who he has previously worked with at Valencia.

“I’m really excited to play with this team and to try and help the players achieve all the goals that the club has," Mir said.

“Nuno played a big part of my decision to come here. Wolves is a big project and it’s an exciting challenge to be a part of it.

“It’s great to be able to work with a coach that I already know and that was an important factor in signing for the club."

Mir, whose former clubs include Real Murcia, Barcelona, Ranero and ElPozo Murcia, added that he was delighted to join one of the biggest clubs in the country.

“It’s a club that has already played in the Premier League. It’s one of the biggest clubs in England and I’m really looking forward to my time with Wolves.

“I think the type of football that is played in England is very good for me as a player. It suits me and I think, with training, I could bring some good things to the team.”

Mir has been in Valencia's youth setup for the past six years and has made two senior appearances.

However he has been prolific for the club's reserve team, netting 15 goals in 19 matches for Valencia Mestalla in the Spanish third tier.

It had been suggested that Real Madrid were looking at signing Mir, but Wolves have swooped to land their first signing of the window.

It's believed Wolves were looking at possibly bringing in another forward and a right wing back during the next few weeks.

There are set to be more outgoings than incomings with Michal Zyro, Ben Marshall and Prince Oniangue likely to be shipped out.
