Wolves' Conor Coady: Forest defeat not like us
Wolves centre-half Conor Coady insists fatigue wasn’t the reason behind their first league defeat for three months.
Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win at Molineux was only Wolves’ second league home league defeat of the campaign.
It also extended their mini winless run to four matches, including the two FA Cup games against Swansea.
Coady was disappointed with the team’s performance against Forest but he said tiredness wasn’t an issue.
“I wouldn’t say its tiredness, it was just sloppiness on Saturday,” he said.
“We’ve not had many like that at Molineux this season, it’s more disappointment than frustration.
“We didn’t do enough to win the game, simple as that.
“The first half we were sloppy and didn’t create enough. They had a 2-0 lead at half time which gave them something to hold on to for the second half.
“Forest were very organised as we knew they would, they pressed when they had, they sat in and defended well, fair credit to them.
“For us, I don’t feel we did enough defensively or attacking. We conceded two sloppy goals which isn’t like us but also we didn’t create enough.
“It’s about going back to the drawing board.”
Wolves’ lead at the top of the table is nine points.
They now have 18 games to get over the line with as few as 10 wins likely to be enough to secure promotion.
Coady added: “It’s a great position to be in and we’ve set a platform for ourselves this season.
“It’s about getting back on the horse and going again.
“We’ve lost a game, that’s it now, it’s done, so we get back to how we play.
“We don’t look too much into (the league table).
“People can say and write whatever they want really, we’re a close knit team and we know what we’ve got to do.
“We want to go out and play our way and take it game by game.
“Against Forest we never came out the blocks.
“We had a game plan to really get at them at the start of the game and we never really done that, we looked a bit lethargic and sloppy in possession.
“It was uncharacteristic of us this season.
“We have to get back to it – it’s a relentless campaign and a relentless season.
“It’s about bouncing back at Ipswich, it’s as simple as that.”
