Alfred N'Diaye hoping to take his Wolves chance
While Wolves have been flying high at the top of the league it’s been a largely frustrating season for Alfred N’Diaye.
After signing on loan from Villarreal last August the midfielder started only four league matches up to mid-January.
Since then, owing initially to an injury to Romain Saiss, he’s started five in row and made a positive contribution including with two goals in his past three.
With Ruben Neves suspended for the next two matches against Fulham and Reading, that run could be extended to seven in a row.
And it’s an opportunity he’s looking to grasp with both hands.
“It’s good for me, I came here to play,” N’Diaye said. “No one is happy to stay on the bench. But I’ve given my best in training, worked hard and when I’ve had a few minutes I’ve tried to give my best.
“I’ve played five games in a row, it’s good for my confidence.
“It’s been hard for me but sometimes football is like this.
“The team is very good and when it’s like this you have nothing to say. You have to work.
“The gaffer made his choice, he knows what’s best for the team.
“When I’m on the bench, for example Danny (Batth) is the captain and he’s on the bench and working well.
“We all have to work to be in the team.
“I’ve scored two goals in three games which is good for me and the team.
“I have to keep going, I can’t say ‘okay I’ve scored two goals’. I’m not like this. I’m a guy who will always try to give me best.”
The 27-year-old, like everyone of a Wolves persuasion in the stadium, was left deflated by Norwich’s last-gasp equaliser on Wednesday night.
He called for Wolves to continue playing instead of sitting back on a lead.
“We are disappointed, we tried to win the game and sometimes in football this happens,” he added.
“I think we didn’t play the second half how we wanted, that’s why Norwich went back with a draw.
“At 2-0 we started to go back and this wasn’t good for us.
“Their goal put more pressure on us. Next time at 2-0 we have to keep playing, like we have all season.”
