Leeds owner launches Twitter attack on Wolves
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has launched a remarkable attack on Wolves' link with agent Jorge Mendes, claiming it is 'not legal'.
Wolves beat Leeds 3-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday evening thanks to goals from Romain Saiss, Willy Boly and Benik Afobe.
At the end of the game Radrizzani took to Twitter to lambaste both Wolves and the EFL, suggesting the league was not fair and equal.
Radrizzani said: "We have our own problems but we should play in a fair competition. Not legal and fair (to) let one team owned by a fund whom has shares in the biggest players agency with evident benefits (top European clubs giving players with options to buy ..why the other 23 teams can’t have same treatment?).
"We should play all 24 with the same rules and opportunities (it's enough to google it).
"Congratulations to the best team but hope the league can be fair and equal to all 24 teams."
Wolves' owners Fosun have a stake in Mendes' Gestifute agency and Mendes is heavily influential at Wolves. A number of his clients are on Wolves' books including star players Ruben Neves and Helder Costa, as well as head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Mendes was involved in Fosun's £30million takeover of the club in 2016.
An as-yet unnamed rival Championship club is reported to have drafted a letter outlining concerns about Mendes to the EFL and the matter is due to be discussed at an EFL board meeting on Thursday.
However Wolves are believed to be 'entirely comfortable' that they are working within all rules and regulations set out by the league.
