Nuno: Wolves fought like warriors and proved doubters wrong
Nuno Espirito Santo hailed his Wolves 'warriors' as he said Friday's win over Cardiff proved their doubters wrong.
Victory against Neil Warnock's team edged Wolves ever closer to promotion, which they could secure against Derby on Wednesday if Fulham draw or lose at home to Reading tomorrow.
Wolves are nine points clear of Cardiff and 11 ahead of Fulham, while fourth-placed Villa can no longer catch them after their defeat to Norwich on Saturday.
Nuno said of the Cardiff victory: "We were fighters. Some players fight like warriors. I'm very proud.
"Maybe when the competition is over we can have a long talk, but we have been put in doubt. Some people doubted us.
"On Friday we showed we can defend, no problem."
John Ruddy was Wolves' hero in Wales, saving an injury time penalty from Gary Madine.
Former keeper Nuno praised not just Ruddy but the whole goalkeeping unit.
"John is very important, as is every player – Will Norris, Harry Burgoyne, they're important the way they help each other," he said.
"If you look at goalkeeper – and I was one – it's a family inside a family.
"The way John is performing through the season is a big credit to the goalkeeper coach and his team mates.
"Ninety per cent of the time they are on their own but they support each other."
