Willy Boly pleased with opening Wolves win

Willy Boly said Wolves’ good performance was more important than the result as they came from behind to beat Basel 2-1.

Goals from Rafa Mir and Diogo Jota saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s team get their pre-season campaign off to a winning start in Switzerland, cancelling out an opening goal from former Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Boly saved Wolves from having to go to a penalty shoot-out in the Uhrencup when he produced an excellent late goal-line clearance.

And in a rare interview the Frenchman said: "Winning is always good, we won and we played well – this is more important.

"It was a good game, we stayed in shape and tried to do our best. Basel is a good team."

Boly made a crucial goal-line block to preserve Wolves' lead in the dying minutes.

"I think I was a little bit late before, so after I had to block the ball. This is my job, I did well," he said.

"We are all together, we are the same team and working to do the best possible job we can do.

"The facilities are good and the training ground."

Boly made his move to Wolves permanent this summer when signing for Porto for £10million.

He's set to be a key figure in the campaign ahead – and he can't wait.

"For me every season is good for me to play because I love football, last season was amazing as well when I came here. This is season is the same.

"I'm enjoying myself and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“We’re looking forward to the season. It’s game after game, we are preparing like usual."
