Wolves interested in China star Wu Lei

The 26-year-old has scored 11 times in 52 games for his country and plays for Shanghai SIPG, where he the club's record goalscorer (155) and appearance maker (328).

He is also close to breaking the all-time Chinese Super League scoring record.

Fosun know that attracting a high-profile Chinese player to Molineux would considerably raise the club's status in China.

However any move for Wu Lei may be on hold for now as the right winger is believed to have suffered an Achilles injury during Shanghai's 5-1 win over Beijing Renhe on Saturday, in which he scored.

The China star said last year he would move to Europe when the time was right, having turned down offers.

"I receive offers from European clubs all the time, but the timing has not been right," Wu said.

"Also, my focus right now is on helping my club to win titles in the domestic league and in the AFC Champions League. Maybe after that, I'll think about playing in Europe."

Wolves are in the market for another forward, with a pursuit of top choice Adama Traore so far proving frustrating.

Speculation has linked Wolves with an ambitious move for England and Spurs left back Danny Rose, however the rumours are believed to have no foundation.
