Ruben Vinagre backing Wolves to stay the course

The 19-year-old was Wolves’ star man during a disappointing 2-0 home defeat last weekend, which ended a six-game unbeaten run for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

They head to Brighton tomorrow hoping to get back to winning ways and cement their place in the top half of the table.

Vinagre said: “We started well and we’re on the right track, but we always want more and we’re doing our best at moment to give our best possible.

“It’s going well and we have worked hard for that and we’re going to continue along that path.

“The game against Watford wasn’t our most successful game but it won’t change anything.

“We’ll keep our focus on winning the next match, which is why nothing has changed.

“We’re not in a crisis after losing that game. It’s bad, because we want to win every game but it’s in the past now and we have to focus on the path ahead.

“We want to win every game possible and it’s always possible to do that.

“(Nuno) gave us his trust, told us to concentrate on the next game and said that the game is done now and it doesn’t matter anymore, we have to look ahead.”

Vinagre has already made six appearances, four coming in the league as a substitute, after winning the European U-19 Championships last summer.

The Portuguese left wing-back added: “I’m here to do whatever the team may need. I’m here to give my maximum and whenever I’m called up, I will do my best to help Wolves.

“For me, it’s a dream come true, to be able to play in the Premier League at 19 years of age.

“The Premier League in my opinion is the best league in the world which is why it’s my dream to continue and I’ll do everything to do that."

Vinagre will hope to be involved at Brighton tomorrow, especially after his impact last weekend.

After that it’s a double header against the North London teams, Spurs and Arsenal.

Vinagre says Wolves aren’t looking any further ahead than bouncing back against the Seagulls.

“We know that Brighton are a good team,” he said. “There are no easy games in the Premier League and we know that.

“Above all, we need to be focusing on our own team and what we have to do.

“If we do that, everything will happen naturally, whether that be against Brighton or another team.

“For now we are fully concentrated on Brighton.

“We’re not thinking about other games. First comes Brighton. Then, we’ll prepare for Arsenal and Tottenham in the same way that we did for Brighton.

“We will give all our attention to those games as we are doing now for Brighton.

“We always keep our focus on the one game at a maximum.”

“I think we can have a great season in the Premier League. We have a fantastic squad, all the players are fantastic. Everything is going well and I think we can have a great season.

“We’re taking every game as it comes. We’re always giving our all in every game. At the end of the season we’ll take a look at the table, but for now we will play to win.”
