The Belgian defender/midfielder finally made his Premier League bow when coming on for the last 10 minutes of Wednesday's 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The absence of Dendoncker, who is at Molineux on loan but will join permanently for £12million next summer, has been a mystery with Nuno Espirito Santo not drawn on why he wasn't featuring.

After his league debut the 23-year-old said: "I came here to play, I try to train hard and be ready whenever the coach needs me.

"I'll keep doing that and we'll see what comes.

"I'm enjoying being part of it, I'm glad I made the step. I think we have a good team and a good group.

"(Nuno) says to keep working hard, keep training, try and stay professional, that's what I do.

"I have to be ready, I'll keep working and we'll see what comes.

"Everyone is very supportive and kind and that helps. I'm happy to be here.

"Of course, every player wants to play, but we'll see about that. I'll just keep working hard."

Dendoncker made an instant impression when he made a break upfield and won a free-kick, which was cheered loudly by the home supporters.

He enjoyed his mini cameo.

"My first minutes in the Premier League, it's always nice to start with a win and I'm happy to play my first game," the Anderlecht loanee added

"It's against Chelsea, one of the biggest teams in the league, it was a pleasure, especially because we kept the score at 2-1.

"Nuno said to stay in front of the defence, try to keep control.

"I wasn't nervous, that's not in my character. But it's always nice to begin with a nice action and give everything for 10 minutes.

"It was a great atmisphere, we have great fans, always supportive. They stand behind the team and that's a great thing.

"We have a very good team, we've been unlucky a couple of times, the last two weeks were maybe not so good but against Chelsea we confirmed we can play good football, create a lot of chances. It was a great win for the team."
