Wolves skipper Conor Coady calls for more consistency

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Cup on Monday, days after losing 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

They now travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad on Monday before hosting Leicester City the following weekend.

And Coady wants them to produce some consistency.

“We go into games without any fear and to win – the manager won’t have it any other way,” Coady said.

“We need to be more consistent. We’ve got into some games and had below-par performances, so we need to iron that out.”

Coady has reached the FA Cup semi-finals before, with Sheffield United in 2014.

He believes Wolves have a squad capable of going far in the competition – and that it would give the whole club a massive life.

“It’s always great to have a Cup run,” he said. “I had one at Sheffield United when we got all the way to the semi-finals.

“The buzz it brings around the supporters, the players, at a ground on game days, is incredible.

“If we can get one it would be fantastic for the whole club.

“The FA Cup is huge, we all know that from growing up watching it. If we can do something, that would be great.

“We’ve got the squad for it, it’s a great group to be a part of.”

Ruben Neves was the match-winner on Monday, a couple of weeks after he was dropped for the first time in his Wolves career.

Coady paid tribute to the midfielder. “We were more compact defensively, Ruben sat a bit more and he’s a clever and sensational footballer – to have that security in there was good for everybody.

“You see what he does with the ball, he links the ball really well.

“As a unit we were compact and stayed together.

“It was a Liverpool team no matter who they put out. It was no more of a boost if they’d played a normal Premier League team. The lads were excellent.”
