Wolves have still been short on goals while a knack of starting games slowly has continued.

But just one loss in seven matches has seen them climb up to 12th in the Premier League, and Nuno feels they are steadily improving with each match that comes.

“Of course, no doubt about it,” said Nuno, when asked if they have made progress as of late.

“We were not playing good and we improved.

“Individually, the players are getting better, and we are recovering players.

“I think we are more stable and more confident in ourselves.

“This is the credit. After a bad run that we had, going out of that and being able to compete better, that can only make us stronger for the future.

“This is the main idea – improvement game after game.”

Wolves went on their longest unbeaten run of the season, five games, before succumbing to a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City last week.

In that game, skipper Conor Coady grabbed his first Premier League goal, and could have added a couple more in the 0-0 draw with Villa at the weekend.

Nuno admits Wolves are making a more concerted effort to get Coady into scoring positions, too, while stressing his defensive duties are always the priority.

“It was important, and he had good situations (against Villa),” added Nuno.

“Credit for him as we are pushing him to get into the box, and he has been able to get into good positions. He should have done better, but it’s one more solution.

“The tasks of Coady go much beyond offensive set-pieces – his job is far more important in other aspects of the game.

“Hopefully, he’ll have another chance and score.”
