Nuno: Adama Traore goal reward for 'amazing work ethic' at Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo insists Adama Traore's stunning late winner at Fulham is a reward for his 'amazing' work ethic.

Traore came up with a piece of brilliance right at the death to clinch a dramatic 1-0 victory for Nuno's side at Craven Cottage.

They had earlier seen a Willian Jose goal controversially chalked off for offside in what was an underwhelming display on the whole, before the Spaniard hammered the ball past Alphonse Areola to open his Premier League account for the season.

"Adama can produce amazing things with his talent, his speed and character," said Nuno.

"With the way he works, he really deserves moments like this. He really works for them.

"So, let's try to do it again. Adama hasn't produced enough moments like this, like goals.

"But his work ethic is amazing for the team. We realise that and know that his talent will bring not only goals, but assists and unbalancing opponents.

"Every time he has the ball, the priority is to foul him – kick him, push him, hold him.

"So, he has double the work to do, to find the spaces and use his speed."

As well as having Jose's header ruled out in the first half because Daniel Podence's shoulder was deemed to be offside before making the cross, Wolves had Pedro Neto limp off after 33 minutes.

Nuno confirmed the winger was forced off with a knee issue picked up while on international duty with Portugal last month.

And reacting to the disallowed goal, Nuno said: "I saw the monitor. This is VAR. Fine margins.

"It's not the spirit of the game. I hope us in football can find a solution because stadiums are going to be full again, and it's going to be hard to explain to thousands of people one hand is offside."

With the win, coming after a 3-2 loss to West Ham last Monday, Wolves moved up to 12th in the table – on 38 points with seven games left to play.

Up next for them is a clash with rock-bottom Sheffield United at Molineux next weekend.

Nuno added: "We looked for it, worked hard for it, and we got our goal in the end.

"We scored in the first half through beautiful movement. It's about recognising the hard work of both teams, knowing this can happen in the last minutes of the game.

"This is football. What I look at in this game is the way we worked and way we approached it.

"So, I'm happy for the boys because the response to what happened on Monday was really good."
