Ashley Chesters goes on in golf championships

Ashley Chesters was today the last Shropshire golfer standing in the English Amateur Strokeplay Championships.

The Hawkstone Park-based England international made the cut for the final two rounds with nothing to spare at Walton Heath after following up an opening 76 with a second-round 77 in tough conditions yesterday.

That left Chesters at nine-over-par and in a share of 50th spot, 10 shots off the lead.

Oswestry's Will Jones and Shifnal's Ed Peters both missed the cut.
