Bridgnorth's Astbury Hall will host its first Euro-Pro Golf Tour event over the next three days.

The Astbury Hall Classic will get underway tomorrow with a Pro-Am event kicking things off today.

Former Wigan Athletic and Fulham footballer, Jimmy Bullard, will also be among the participants taking part in the event on the par 70 championship course, which was created by owner and former Judas Priest rock star, KK Downing.

More than 160 professionals will compete to become the Astbury Hall Classic Champion.

Spokesman Dave Wells said: "PGA recommended the course to the Euro-pro Tour following the successful Race to Astbury Hall event held in September 2012.

"Sky Sports will be recording all three days, so nothing will be missed. This will firmly put Shropshire on the global map as a golf destination."

Astbury Hall bosses also hope to host part of the English tour in September, with the aim of holding a full PGA Tour event in the next few years.
