Severn is county champion

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club's rising star Jack Severn has added another trophy to his burgeoning collection by claiming the Worcestershire Under 14s boys title.

Severn went into the competition, which was held at Habberley Golf Club, in great form having recently won two competitions at his home club, the Saturday Medal and the Cleobury Mortimer junior title.

And he continued his stellar streak by carding a very solid round of 74 gross to claim the county crown.

That achievement came against a small but select field and was reached on a demanding course despite the threat of heavy rain in the air.

Severn is quickly cultivating a growing reputation within Worcestershire and is already an Under-18s regular for the county side.

Cleobury Morttimer Golf Club spokesman David Pain was full of praise following his latest achievement.

He said: "Once again Jack Severn is doing the business at county level, and he is still only 14."

Severn is edging close to a handicap of four with his latest successes and he will be one of the favourites when the Cleobury Mortimer men's club title is contested in just a few weeks' time.
