Dani Hoof, a member of Lilleshall Hall Golf Club in Newport, has received the privilege of being called up for England after impressing at a recent England Schools event.

The 17-year-old former Burton Borough School student now plies his trade at the Performance Golf Academy, which runs an education and training programme in partnership with Derby College.

Hoof, from Newport, will join England colleagues for an international match against Scotland and Wales in August and September.

He secured his international selection after finishing inside the top 16 places in the English Schools National Championship at The Kendleshire Golf Club in Bristol that took place on Monday.

The teenager, who plays off a handicap of one, shot 149 for 36 holes in the competition.

He is also a regular fixture for the Shropshire and Herefordshire Under-18s team.
