Magnificent seven seals title for Shrewsbury High

Shrewsbury High Prep School’s under-11 netball side were crowned champions at the U11 Pre School Netball Tournament.

The tournament was held at Prestfelde with eight sides battling it out for glory.

The Shrewsbury squad consisting of Olivia Clarke, Freya Bowett, Emily Birtles, Lottie Barraclough, Maddie Osbourne, Lauren Matthews, Brooke Wilcox and Isabella Matthews put in a stellar performance that saw them not only claim the trophy, but also end the day with a perfect record of seven wins from seven games.

The girls beat Moor Park 4-1, Moreton 7-1, Packwood 6-1, 5-0 against Birchfield 5-0, Old Hall 5-3, White House 12-2 and Prestfelde 5-4.

Head of girls’ sport at Shrewsbury High Prep Jo Massam was thrilled with the way the girls played.

“Every single player brought their best performance to the day against some really strong teams,” she said.

“They were a huge credit to the school and I couldn’t have been prouder of their grit and determination and fantastic team spirit.”
