In-form Bridgnorth are targeting a revenge mission

The Crown Meadow side are six matches unbeaten in the West Midlands Premier Division. One of those was a 1-1 draw at Shifnal last month – a clash Stanton believes his side should have taken maximum points from.

“We should have won at Shifnal,” said Stanton. “The chances we had there and missed a penalty in the last four minutes.

“It was two points dropped really and we’re looking for a bit of revenge. It’s all going well – we’re on this unbeaten run. We’re playing great football and competing.”

Visitors Shifnal are three places above Bridgnorth, in eighth, but only courtesy of goal difference in a compact mid-table. Town have played three more matches than Bridgnorth.

Mark Simpson’s men hope to avoid a hat-trick of county derby defeats after disappointments against Shawbury United and Wem in their last two games.

But things are looking up for Stanton, who has set lofty aims for the season. “We had a tough start to the season, playing these top teams and came through them with great results – confidence is really high,” he added.

“I came here with the job of consolidating in the Premier Division, but we’ve gone one step further and are looking at a FA Cup position.”

Fifth welcomes fourth in a crucial Premier Division clash for Haughmond as they welcome Hereford Lads Club.

Free-scoring Mond are the joint-second highest scorers having notched 31 times in eight games – including eight last time out at Smethwick Rangers.

Wem Town welcome Smethwick to Butler Sports Centre. The sides are level on nine points going into the clash, with 16th-placed Smethwick having played one more game than the side directly above them.

Shawbury, in 13th, hope to build on Wednesday’s impressive 5-0 win over Dudley Town as they visit second-bottom Bilston Town.
