Haughmond gunning for pole position
Boss Dan Williams will finally proclaim his Haughmond side as favourites for West Midlands Premier Division glory – if they win their crucial game in hand tomorrow.

Second-placed Haughmond go to improving Pershore Town, who are 15th, while rivals Tividale – two points ahead at the top – are without a game.
Williams, whose side have been chasing down their Black Country rivals and had a number of games in hand, has been reluctant to declare his team favourites for the title and remains so even now top spot is in Haughmond’s sights following Tuesday night’s 4-1 success against Shifnal Town.
“Tividale are definitely still favourites, but win tomorrow and that could turn it around, it’s a massive game,” said boss Williams, whose side play three of the final four league games on the road.
“We go to Pershore, Wellington – who beat Tividale recently – and Dudley Town, who looked one of the best teams in the league at our place.
“In my opinion, on current form, Pershore could be favourites, they’ve scored seven and five in the last two.”
Christian Oldham, Kev Renshaw, Steve Hole and Reece Taylor netted in Tuesday’s win.
Williams is without star top scorer Hole and Dave Howells. Jack Griffiths (ankle) will miss out while attacking midfielder Joe Parry’s return could be crucial, says the boss.
“I felt in a couple of games we’ve felt the pressure,” Williams added. “But on Tuesday we played passing football like we did a few months ago. We’ve got a good enough side going to Pershore.”
“We’re at the top end of the league for a reason.”
Wem Town and Shifnal Town have home games as they bid to pull away from second and third-bottom. They host sixth-placed Bewdley and mid-table Cradley, respectively. AFC Bridgnorth, in 11th, welcome Dudley Sports.
