On a day more suited to indoor sports, Shrewsbury lost out to 2018 champions Berkswell at London Road.
The visitors had slumped to 24-4 before Tom Lewis (47) dug in to save the day.
He was joined at 97-6 by Tom Milnes, who proceeded to hammer a match-winning 74 from 60 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes. Veteran skipper Dominic Ostler (32 not out) joined Milnes at 140-8 and they took the total to 219-9 before Milnes was dismissed off the last ball of the innings.
After early inroads by Joe Leach and Mike Barnard, with two wickets each, Tyler Ibbotson took 4-67 for Shrewsbury, who were, eventually, faced with a revised target of 130 from 25 overs to win the game. After a bright start, they fell away to 119-7, as Leicestershire’s Ateeq Javid took 4-13 from five overs.
Shifnal also lost out on DLS, by 10 runs to Dorridge. Put in to bat, Shifnal slipped to 27-4 as Worcestershire’s Patrick Brown took 3-18 on his first appearance for the club. Chad Brandrick began a recovery with 52 and the Shropshire side closed on 196-7 from 50 overs.
In reply, Dorridge had reached 132-4 from 36 overs when the match was halted, handing them a 10-run victory according to DLS.
