Tigers went down to a 7-4 defeat in the semi-final first leg on Thursday, with the return to come in Shropshire on January 29.

Watkins admits his team did not help themselves in Wiltshire, but has the belief that his players can progress to the final.

“You can’t concede in bunches the way we did,” he said. “We made too many decisions that cost us.

“Winning hockey games is about competing harder than the opposition, being honest they competed harder than us in the key areas.

“There is still a lot of hockey to play in this tie. We are a team that have come from behind this season on a number of occasions so I have a lot of belief that we can still advance to the final.

“On this occasion we really need the help of the Tigers fans to get behind this team. I know the second leg is on a school night, but we need the support of all the fans and I hope they come in numbers and get behind us.”

Tigers return to league action at Hull tonight before hosting Leeds Chiefs tomorrow (6pm).
