Tigers have won six out of six on the ice ahead of a double-header with Sheffield Steeldogs, who also have a perfect record.

Watkins’ side are at Telford Ice Rink today (3pm) before travelling to Yorkshire tomorrow (5pm), and he said: “Everything has gone to plan, really.

“Our performances seem to be getting better each week, which is massively important. This will be our biggest weekend of the competition so far, with both teams undefeated.

“We know we are in for a tough weekend, for sure.

“Both teams are on maximum points, so somebody is going to lose that winning record, but we’re really happy with how we’re playing at the minute.

“The fact the guys have had a break and come back and played so well is testament to the talent and ability of the guys we have in our dressing room. There’s plenty of ability and depth. It’s working well.”

Watkins says Tigers have adapted well to the lack of fans, too.

“The process of getting back on the ice and playing behind closed doors hasn’t been too difficult,” he added.

“The games are still of a very competitive standard. Everyone has a winning attitude.

“There’s still plenty of atmosphere and tension from the bench.

“It’s a shame there’s no fans in the building, but the players haven’t been letting it affect their performances.”
