Following on from a controversial 4-3 home reverse on Saturday evening, Tigers travelled to South Yorkshire last night hoping to exact a measure of revenge on their opponents.

And Tigers took the lead through Austin Mitchell-King but Sheffield equalised through a Jason Hewitt short-handed goal.

Sheffield took a second-period lead with an Alex Graham goal but, late in the period, Ricky Plant equalised for Tigers.

A poor start to the third period saw Tigers lose the game with Sheffield scoring two quick goals from Ben Lake and James Spurr before a Ben O’Connor slap shot gave Sheffield an unassailable 5-2 lead.

Tigers’ now sit in second place in the table, with Sheffield taking over at the top of the table, four points ahead with four games remaining. Head coach Tom Watkins said: “A poor start to the third period which cost us.”
