The slick southpaw, who joined Merridale in Wolverhampton from Wellington Academy last year, bowed out to Wales' Micky McDonagh unanimously on points in Saturday's semi-finals.

Tuqir was invited to compete as the losing 52kg finalist in this year's domestic Youth event, one of three national decider defeats for the luckless teenager.

He did win the Three Nations as a schoolboy in 2011, but was unable to repeat the trick at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham.

There was no stopping the formidable McDonagh, who went on to claim top honours on a split decision against Brummie Niall Farrell.
