England Boxing have allowed the fighter to change allegiances and continue in the competition, as the move was with the blessing of both clubs.

Three divisions are separated by age in the Schools ranging from the 'minors' (fighters born 2004), Class A (2003) and Class B (2002). Bouts are over three, one-and-a-half minute rounds.

Uddin, a 'minors' national finalist last year, has yet to feature at 31kg in Class A as he claimed the West Midlands title by walkover.

He'll sit out Sunday's national pre quarter-finals on a bye, but will feature the following weekend in the quarters against Birtley's Billy Hope on his opponent's turf.

Donnington's Brayden Davies was due to compete at 41.5kg in Class B on Sunday, with the pre-quarters staged at the De Montfort Park stadium in Hinckley.

His rival, Kyle Beer from Bolsover in Derbyshire, has pulled out of the bout, leaving Davies with a path clear to the semis. There's no match for him at Birtley.

He's already recorded two victories in this year's Schools, both by unanimous points decision. The first was a box off on a Lions club show at the Copthorne Hotel in Dudley.

He defeated Jake Melvin, from Hall Green in Birmingham, to make it to the West Midlands finals staged at the Newdigate Social Club in Bedworth.

He then eliminated McKenzie Pollock, of Bell Green in Coventry, to claim area honours and now emulated his national semi-final run in the 'minors' two years ago.

Club-mates Jenson Bagnall, Billy Chard and Amir Abbas all missed out, the latter by stoppage in the last five seconds of the contest.

Bagnall had qualified after beating Hamza Ali unanimously, while Abbas had done likewise to Michael O'Toole. Chard had walked over.

This time, Abbas was halted after shipping a right hand close to the final bell against Atherstone's George Bance at 54kg in Class B.

Bagnall went to the cards after the distance with Lewis Lawton, from Impact in Stoke-on-Trent, and was edged out on a split decision at 38.5kg in the 'minors.'

Chard was beaten on another split by Eoin Quinn, from Christ the King in Coventry, at 43kg in Class A.

It was also the end of the road for Aaron Wall, from the Len Woodhall Community Club in Telford, who boxed twice just to reach the area decider.

After split victories over Bradley Smith and Spencer Hurst, he couldn't make it a hat-trick against Newdigate's Liam Byrne, who prevailed unanimously at 50kg in Class B.
