They recorded one win, a draw and two defeats from four pairings over two days of darts, but remain in eighth place.

The two teams below them in the 10-strong table, Pembrokeshire and the Isle of Wright, were also beaten. Shropshire's one win this season came at home to Pembrokeshire.

The respective women's B teams were first to the oche, where the visitors suffered an early blow through a 6-0 whitewash.

Hannah Meadwell led the way for Bedfordshire, top scoring with an average of 18.56 in a 3-0 landslide over Cally Jones, whose 17.55 was the highest losing tally.

Shropshire were competitive as they battled to arrest the slide in the men's B clashes, but were left as they were after a 6-6 draw.

Bobby Lee racked up 27.83 for the hosts in a 3-0 shut-out of Martin Riggs (25.57), while Shropshire's Robert Henderson finished with 24.64 in a 3-0 whitewash of Steve Green (21.53).

Shropshire kept themselves alive in the women's A ties, where the away side recorded a 4-2 success to cut the deficit to four points.

Shropshire would concede defeat after the men's A finale, though, where they were well beaten 9-3 as the home line-up got over the line.

Aiden O'Mahoney finished in style for them, with 26.70 in a hard-fought last leg win over Andi Chatter (25.20). Play was upgraded to a best-of-seven format.

Derek Coulson had 25.57 for Shropshire as he beat Dara Curran (25.71) by a 4-2 margin, but it ultimately proved in vain.

Bedfordshire prevailed 23-13 in total, earning three extra points as the winning county. Shropshire next entertain Wiltshire at Castle Hall in Bridgnorth on February 11-12.
