Shrewsbury celebrate the end of a terrific season that saw them win the title and clinch promotion from Midlands 3 West (North)

And while the Gunners went the Premier League campaign without losing in 2003/04 and Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys did the same north of the border in 2016/17, Shrewsbury went even better.

And that’s because they have just finished their Midlands 3 West (North) season with a perfect 100 per cent winning record – 22 victories from 22 matches.

They brought their programme to a close with a 21-0 thumping of Essington at the weekend and ended 20 points clear of their nearest rivals.

For joint head coach Simon Evitts, it righted the wrongs of two years ago when the club were relegated having lost 20 matches.

“A lot of players who were involved in the relegation season stayed and have now helped turn things around and get the club get back up,” he said.

“Our aim at the start of the season was to get promoted and if possible to win the title. Nobody was thinking we could do what we have done.

“It’s been quite incredible when you really think about it.”
