AFC Telford trio are keeping up standards
Goalkeeping coach Darren Acton has hailed AFC Telford United's shot-stoppers for all bringing something different to the table – but admits one could be loaned out.
The Bucks have Max Bramley, Andy Wycherley and Sheridan Martinez vying for the No.1 jersey.
And all, somewhat surprisingly, have had minutes this campaign. Bramley has made eight appearances, Martinez two and Wycherley one – and Acton feels each of them have done well.
"Shez got injured in training and then Max came back in," he said.
"Then Max got injured and Andy got some minutes.
"I've got faith in all of them – any of them can come into the side and do well.
"I haven't got a problem with any of them, and all of them bring something different to the table.
"It's a good thing for the club to have three keepers who we can rely on.
"It's a bit hard for the lads at the moment as they all want to be playing, but they're working hard. We work on a lot of things and they enjoy training.
"Eventually, I think one of them is going to have to go out on loan and get some games."
Bramley is on loan from Leicester City for the season and the fact he picked up head and knee injuries allowed Martinez and then Wycherley to get some game time.
Martinez re-joined Telford in the summer after a spell last campaign in which he did not play at all.
Wycherley was snapped up following an impressive trial stint. He turned down fresh terms at The New Saints at the end of last term.
As Bramley is on loan with the Bucks, it is between Martinez and Wycherley as to who may go out on loan.
Wycherley, from The Rock, has been getting in the squad ahead of Martinez over the past several weeks.
Assessing each of the keepers, Acton said: "In training, Shez is unbelievable.
"Andy is pushing Max hard as well and is almost waiting for Max to have a bad game.
"Max is new to men's football but has done well so far."
Acton took up the role of goalkeeping coach shortly after Gavin Cowan became boss.
He used to play for Telford and worked with Cowan at Solihull Moors, where he also helped Martinez to develop.
Acton is loving life back at the New Bucks Head and added: "Things are going really well.
"The lads have connected well, there is a good mood in the changing room, so I'm enjoying it."
