Conor Coady says repetition works for Wolves
Conor Coady says Wolves’ repetitive and relentless training methods are behind their impressive defensive record – as he hailed the contribution of Jonny Castro Otto.
Wolves have kept three clean sheets in their past five matches, conceding only one apiece to the two Manchester clubs in that sequence.
Coady, Ryan Bennett and Willly Boly have been playing together for the best part of a year.
And captain Coady said: “We pride ourselves on our clean sheets and the more we get, the better it will be.
“We do it over and over again (in training), the same thing. But that’s how we want it because we want to get better and improve every day and listen to (Nuno Espirito Santo) as much as we can every day to improve and hopefully we can.
“When you go into training, you know what the sessions are about so you know what to do when you go into them.
“You know how to improve and you know when you listen to him how you’re going to improve as well.
“As long as we improve with each game, we will be OK.
“We saw it last season and nothing has changed – we want to keep as many clean sheets as we can.
Atletico Madrid loanee Otto scored his first goal for the club when sealing Saturday’s 2-0 win over Southampton with a late strike.
It continued his impressive start to Premier League life.
“He’s brilliant, isn’t he?” Coady said. “And for a right footer playing on the left, it’s fantastic. You know that as an ‘out ball’ he will always be there.
“I’m made up for him to score his goal because he works so hard in training and on the pitch, so he deserves his goal and he took it really well.
“His English is top drawer and he always understands. He says ‘yeah’ a lot of the time! But his English is good and he deserved his goal.”
