NickelbackExplosive rockers Nickelback are back on the up again, largely thanks to the mega success of their Rockstar single and video. Fans can catch up with them at Birmingham NEC Arena on September 18.

Rockstar is taken from the Canadian rockers' fifth album, All The Right Reasons, but only really took off when its innovative video was released.

The video features a host of celebrities and non-celebrities lip-synching to the song's lyrics, which satirically chart a wannabe's dreams of rock superstardom, from "a bathroom I can play baseball in and a king size tub big enough for ten" to "a new tour bus full of old guitars".

Celebrities in the video include Kiss's Gene Simons, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons (who recorded the growled voiceovers on the song), Kid Rock, Nelly Furtado and Ted Nugent.

Rockstar has spent an incredible nine months in the UK singles chart after first entering on October 21, 2007 and just this month re-entered the charts, having occupied the number two slot previously.

The other singles released from All The Right Reasons include Photograph, Savin' Me, Far Away and If Everyone Cared.

In the UK, Nickelback's biggest selling hit remains How You Remind Me from their 2001 album Silver Side Up, which reached number four in the charts

The band was formed in the mid 90s by guitarist and singer Chad Kroeger, his bassist brother Mike Kroeger, guitarist Ryan Peake and drummer Brandon Kroeger, now replaced by Daniel Adair.

Chad Kroeger also enjoyed massive success outside Nickelback with the song Hero, which he wrote and performed with Josey Scott for the Spider-Man film soundtrack.

The band is known for its literally explosive stage show, often setting off pyrotechnic effects throughout their concerts and on occasions firing "free stuff", T-shirts and the like, from giant cannons into the crowd. Fans at their NEC show should have a blast!
