Oswestry Remembrance Parade: What you need to know
Oswestry residents are invited to come together for the town’s annual Remembrance Day Service and Parade.
The Parade will assemble on Bailey Head at 10.30am on Sunday, 10 November. Porthywaen Silver Band will lead the procession to the Memorial Gates where a Remembrance Service will be held. The service will be followed by two minutes’ silence before wreaths are laid.
The Mayor of Oswestry will be joined by civic members, members of the armed forces and other services. Members of the public are invited to join them in marking Remembrance Sunday.
The Parade will then return to the Bailey Head prior to dismissal by the Parade Marshall. Another service will be held at the Memorial Gates on Armistice Day, Monday, 11 November at 11am.
The Mayor of Oswestry Councillor Mike Isherwood said: “Remembrance is a time to remember all those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. With conflict all over the world, and people being displaced by war and fearing for their future, it is also a time to reflect on the sort of future we want for our children. I hope you can join us. Lest we forget.”
