Together with two other finalists and other category shortlists he has been invited by the Speaker of the House of Commons, The Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, to the Shed of the Year Awards and afternoon tea taking place in the opulent State Rooms of the Speaker’s House in the House of Commons on International Men’s Day, Tuesday, 19 November.

On hearing the news Mark said: “I am thrilled to have been nominated for this award and while pretty nervous about going to the prestigious State Rooms it will be an honour to represent Ludlow Men’s Shed and the UK Men’s Shed movement – I’m really looking forward to it”.

Ludlow Shed Co-ordinator, David Burton, stated: “Being on the shortlist is a huge achievement and Mark deserves the recognition after the enormous amount of time and effort he has put into the Shed project – we all wish him well”.

Ludlow Men’s Shed, which is a project of local charity Hands Together Ludlow that aims to improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and combat social isolation, was formed in 2021 and has grown to be one the largest of the 1,100 Men’s Sheds in the UK.

The Shed has over 40 members who have access to a wide range of wood and metalworking equipment as well as a social space which is operated within the Hands Together Ludlow premises. Find out more on our website: handstogetherludlow.org.uk/our-projects/mens-shed
