Local sponsors rally to support cancer support group's recycling initiative
Ludlow Cancer Support Group (LCSG) has decided to recycle the blister packs in which numerous tablets are packaged.
Although effective in protecting medications, blister packs are made from multiple materials, making recycling exceptionally challenging. Most blister packs end up in landfills or incinerated, releasing dangerous toxins.
Professional waste management companies exist to collect blister packs and completely recycle all the toxic waste. However, their services must be paid for.
LCSG has bought its first container, which is full and ready to be collected, and is delighted to announce that offers of sponsorship for future collections have already been received.
Our first offer came from a local resident, they know several members of LCSG and wished to support both the initiative and group colleagues.
Other sponsors are Prickly Pears Interiors, situated in the beautiful countryside of the Shropshire Marches, and Hendra House, an established family-run residential home in Ludlow.
The enthusiasm with which residents and local organisations have promised to bring us their empty blister packs should result in several full containers of toxic blister packs being efficiently recycled.
Packs may be taken to:
- One of the LCSG meetings in the Parish Room of St. Peter’s Church, Henley Road, Ludlow, SY8 1QZ - join us from 10.15am–1pm on Friday 8 and Friday 22 of November, or Friday, 13 December.
- The Merchant House, 62 Lower Corve Street, Ludlow, SY8 1DU - email rosemary.wood3@gmail.com
