Santa's new sleigh delayed by snow and won't feature in tonight's Shrewsbury Christmas lights switch-on
Without the benefit of a test run, Rudolph has decided the heavy snowfall has made it unsafe for a Rotary club’s brand new sleigh to make the journey bringing Santa to Shrewsbury’s Christmas lights switch-on this evening.
Despite Santa’s elves beavering away on the super new model, enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer for Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club’s new anti-gravity ski sleigh to make its debut in the town.
There has been an unexpected delay in the final production which has been outside the club’s control and therefore it has been unable to undertake a final test run which has therefore delayed the new sleigh’s appearance on the streets – hence Rudolph’s concerns.
“We apologise to enthusiasts for any disappointment this will cause,” said Santa. “But Rudolph wisely took the decision that under the circumstances we shouldn’t make the trip in the new sleigh for safety reasons.”
However, Santa will still be on a last-minute borrowed sleigh from Church Stretton Masons at the bottom of Pride Hill from 5pm to 8pm to receive visitors. All are welcome.
