Long-awaited new sleigh is on its way
A long and eagerly awaited brand-new Santa sleigh is about to fly into Shrewsbury for the forthcoming festivities.
The final touches are being applied to the new ski sleigh by members of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club who begin their Christmas fundraising programme this week.
Rotarian David Morris, Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club’s president, confirmed today that the new sleigh towed ‘very gracefully’ from Santa’s workshop just outside Church Stretton to the paint booth in the heart of Shrewsbury.
“It is evident that the sleigh's designer has made every effort to ensure that the aluminium, spaceframe has been attached to the base chassis so carefully, that the weight distribution is almost perfect,” he said today.
“The sleigh glides down Shropshire's highways like an elegant swan. Santa can certainly expect a ride around Shrewsbury's streets in a sleigh which is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce.
“Luxury upholstery and a 'state of the art' lighting system will be installed next. Santa's never had it so good!”
Adding ‘watch this space,’ David said unfortunately there will be a slight delay to the sleigh’s appearance and therefore a last-minute change to the Rotary club’s Christmas programme.
The rota will now start on Wednesday, 4 December at Sainsbury’s.
There is no sleigh rota today (Monday) at Asda nor unfortunately the Monkmoor community run tomorrow (Tuesday) for which the club apologises to enthusiasts.
