The magical evening of music in the form of a winter concert was a celebration and culmination of work Concord College musicians have been doing throughout the autumn term.

“Week on week, they have given their time, energy and commitment to deliver music they can be proud of,” said Mrs Hannah Latter-Perrins, the Acton Burnell based school’s head of music.

“For some, whether a group, ensemble or soloist, the concert was their first performance at Concord and they received a warm welcome and support from the audience.

“The programme featured solo and duo performances, but also offerings from all the music department groups, including choir, string and wind groups, jazz band and band coaching as well as the Johann trio and our newly formed orchestra.

“Set up only this term, it has been fantastic to see the orchestra come together with over 30 students now taking part. A combination of our string and wind group, the orchestra rehearses every other week, and so students have to learn repertoire swiftly.”

She added: “All performers at the winter concert did such an outstanding job preparing fun, entertaining and challenging pieces for the concert. They are ably assisted and directed in rehearsals by a wonderful team of visiting music teachers who can give them the specialist advice on their instrument.

“Every student on stage showed confidence and flair in their musical performances during the concert – it was a truly memorable evening.”
