We will be planting trees and shrubs to create a new woodland edge around one of the  woodlands on the Wild About Westhope nature area.

Woodland edge is the zone between a woodland and open fields and if managed correctly has an abundance of wildlife with different layers of trees, shrubs, flowering plants and grasses. The woodland edge is warm, sunny and sheltered compared to open fields or dark woodland and is the preferred habitat for many birds, butterflies and mammals.

The woodland edge project will provide opportunity for hawthorn and sloe, blackberries and wild rose to grow to their full potential.

Bring a spade if you have one, and a mug so we can keep you topped up with refreshments from the woodland camp café!

The event runs from 10am to 1pm with car parking at Westhope College, SY7 9JL.
