Dan Jones, a guitarist for the rapidly rising Luke Combs UK Tribute band, has been invited to play at Category 10, the brand-new music venue owned by country megastar Luke Combs. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity follows the band’s meteoric rise from humble beginnings to international recognition in just 18 months.
Dan, who teaches for Telford & Wrekin Music Service and runs the Dan Jones Guitar School, joined the tribute act in early 2023. Since then, the band have gone from playing their first gig in a kitchen to selling out theatres and live music venues across the UK and Ireland, bringing the music of Luke Combs to hundreds of fans every week.
Determined to take their success even further, the band set their sights on the USA. Their breakthrough came when an American talent agency booked them for their first-ever US tour. However, to make their American dream a reality, they sought official approval from Luke Combs and his management team.
After a thorough vetting process, the band received the ultimate endorsement: Luke himself gave his blessing for their tour.
Now, with everything in place, the band are gearing up to fly to New York on February 13 to begin their highly anticipated US tour. But just when they thought things couldn’t get any better, another incredible opportunity landed in their laps.
As media buzz surrounding the band grew, their performance at Dudley Town Hall caught the attention of the BBC, which featured them on the evening news. The coverage made its way across the Atlantic to Luke Combs’ management team, who were impressed by the band’s growing profile.
To the astonishment of lead singer Liam Price, the team personally invited the band to perform at the grand opening of Category 10 in April.
“This is beyond our wildest dreams,” said Liam. “To be recognized by Luke Combs himself and invited to play at his venue in Nashville is something we never imagined when we started out.”
And the success doesn’t stop there. Following their US tour and Nashville debut, the band has also been booked for a full month-long tour in Canada this September, further cementing their place as one of the world’s top Luke Combs tribute acts.
In addition to these exciting opportunities, Dan Jones is set to release his own four-track country music EP to coincide with the US tour in February. With international stages now calling, what started as a UK tribute act has turned into a global phenomenon. And for Dan Jones, a local teacher from Telford, the journey from classroom to country stardom is just beginning.
