Wolves Foundation: Bully marks big birthday with night at The Halls
An evening to mark the 60th birthday of Wolves legend Steve Bull, featuring several of his former team-mates looking back on their dramatic Molineux journeys, is coming to the city in May.
And, as the nominated charity for the event, Wolves Foundation will benefit from the proceeds.
Foundation ambassador Johnny Phillips is hosting ‘Bully’s Bi9 Night Out’ on the evening of Thursday, May 1stat the University of Wolverhampton at the Wulfrun Hall.
The club Vice-President and record goalscorer, who turns 60 in March, will be joined by team-mates spanning the 13 years of his Wolves playing career, namely Andy Thompson, Andy Mutch, Robbie Dennison, Mike Stowell and Don Goodman.
Bull was part of the squad which propelled Wolves from near oblivion and almost going out of business to back-to-back promotions, a Wembley final win against Burnley in the Sherpa Van Trophy, and the respectability of returning to the Championship.
“The story of Steve Bull’s career, and what he means to Wolves fans and the people of Wolverhampton, is one of the greatest ever told,” says Phillips.
“Anyone who followed the club at the time will never forget the memories and experiences provided by Bully and his team-mates, and I don’t think there will ever be another player like him for the incredible impact he delivered over so many years.
“The beauty of the Bully story is also that when you get him together with his team-mates, new memories and anecdotes are always revealed, and I am delighted that we have also been able to attract four fantastic guests who are all brilliant personalities in their own right.
“We are working on another couple of surprises for the night itself, which will undoubtedly be a fantastic belated celebration of Bully’s milestone birthday, whilst also being able to support the hugely important work of Wolves Foundation.”
“We are delighted that Johnny, as part of his role as a Foundation ambassador, has decided to put on such a special night and that the club’s official charity are to benefit from the proceeds,” says Kieron Ansell, Business Development Manager with Wolves Foundation.
“We also appreciate Steve and the other club legends agreeing to get involved in the event and the support from University of Wolverhampton at the Halls, such an iconic venue within the city.
“Fundraising support from events such as this is vital to help the Foundation continue to deliver so many of our wide-ranging projects, and will have a direct impact on improving the lives of people across Wolverhampton.”
