"Well, this is the Forest of Arden": Bluebell walk at Soulton in Aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
The Shrewsbury Macmillan Fundraising Group announces its annual "As You Like It" bluebell walk at Soulton, taking place Saturday, 26 April. Tickets are now available for the event, which will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support. The walk will take place in the Shakespearean-inspired Soulton Wood, linked to Thomas Lodge Jr. and Old Sir Rowland Hill, cousin of Mary Arden.

Soulton Wood, the woodland understood to have inspired Shakespeare's 'As You Like It', is set to become once again a breathtaking spectacle of bluebells this spring, and the Shrewsbury Macmillan Fundraising Group is inviting the public to experience this magical setting and support a vital cause by joining their special charity bluebell walk on Saturday, 26 April.
Visitors will have the opportunity to wander through the historic landscape that scholars link to Shakespeare's senior play about love, just as it is carpeted with vibrant bluebells. This unique event offers a chance to connect with nature, immerse oneself in literary history, and contribute to the crucial work of Macmillan Cancer Support in Shropshire.
"Imagine yourself transported to the Forest of Arden," says Tim Ashton. "This walk is a chance to experience the beauty of spring in a truly special and Shakespearean setting, all while supporting people affected by cancer."

The bluebell walk will take place from 10am to 4pm at Soulton Hall, Wem, SY4 5RS. Three timed walks are available:
- Morning - arrive between 10am and 11am
- Lunchtime - 12 noon to 1pm
- Afternoon - 2pm to 3pm.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults, £4 for children, and £20 for a family (2 adults and 3 children). Pre-booking is essential and can be done online at: macmillan-org.enthuse.com/cf/bluebellwalk2025. Tickets are non-refundable.
Walkers are advised to wear appropriate footwear for woodland paths and fields. While dogs are welcome on leads, the paths are not suitable for buggies, pushchairs, or wheelchairs. Free parking will be available on-site, and refreshments and a plant stall will be available for purchase.
All proceeds from the bluebell walk will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping them to continue providing vital care and support to individuals and families affected by cancer in Shropshire.
