Get your running shoes on and help raise vital funds for hospice
A Stafford hospice is urging people to get their running shoes on and help raise vital funds for the charity.

Katharine House Hospice is appealing for people to sign up for the Stafford Half Marathon organised by Freedom Leisure and Stafford Borough Council.
The half marathon – which starts and finishes at Victoria Road taking in West Way, Baswich Lane and Beaconside – will take place on Sunday, 23 March.
Hayley Amison, is running this year’s 13.1 mile course to raise funds for Katharine House Hospice after the charity looked after her mum, Hilary.

Mum-of-four, Hayley, said: “Sadly, my mom lost her battle with cancer in 2020 in the hospice. To mark five years of Mom’s passing I wanted to do something for the occasion.

“Katharine House Hospice helped our family for several years and was a real lifeline to my mom and dad. They both attended day therapy sessions and my mom had many stays within the hospice to help with respite and medication. Throughout the years they both met amazing people and made many special friends.
“Every penny you raise helps provide essential care, comfort, and support to patients and their families.
“This will be the second time I have ran the Stafford Half for the hospice as I wanted to give back to the charity so others can have the support and help our family received.
“Since running back in 2021, we have welcomed another child into the family, so training has been hard to navigate around a busy family of four children. My husband, Daniel, has been a real support in giving me that push when I need it.
“Katharine House Hospice is a remarkable place that deserves so much support. If I can spread the word of the hospice by running for the charity, then hopefully others will choose to too.”
Lyndsey Howard, Community and Events Fundraiser for Katharine House Hospice, has signed up for the half marathon. She said: “By running for us, you're supporting local people facing incurable illnesses.
“Every penny you raise helps provide essential care, comfort, and support to patients and their families in Stafford and surrounding areas.
“Your efforts will make a direct impact, allowing us to continue our free services like compassionate palliative care at home and in the hospice, bereavement support, complementary therapies and more.
“But it’s not just about raising funds – it’s about raising awareness for our hospice in the heart of the local community.”
