Shrewsbury mum to brave skydive to raise funds for children's hospital who saved her son's life

Back in February 2019 at just 3 month's old, Emma Cooke's son Hugo Jack Andrew Cooke was sadly fighting for his life with pneumococcal meningitis. If it wasn't for the outstanding care from Birmingham Children's Hospital, Hugo wouldn't be here today.

Emma says: "Hugo is now a happy 6-year-old despite all of his struggles from the side effects of him having meningitis. He's the most loving, carefree little boy and everyone who knows him couldn't be prouder of him.

"I will forever by grateful for what they did for him and for the care they showed us as a family, so I would like to give back to Birmingham Children’s Hospital as I feel I will forever owe them.

"I am doing a skydive to raise as much money as I can for such an amazing charity that will always hold a special place in my heart, their support has been incredible."

Emma added: "At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, I believe there’s always more we can all do for our sick children and families and that’s why I will always strive to do more for them. It’s my mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use the hospital. Your support empowers them to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK.

"I hope to reach my target before I take the plunge on February 28 at Skyline Skydiving in Whitchurch. It will be six years on 26 February since Hugo had his life-changing surgery.

"All money raised will go to Birmingham Children's Hospital to help make a difference in somebody else's life when they are going through the hardest time of their lives like we did ourselves."
